The Lee County Supervisor of Election's jurisdiction in the candidate-qualifying process extends to only candidates for county and local independent special district offices. With the exception of signature validation for candidate petitions, local multi-county special district candidates must initiate and complete the candidate-qualifying process with the Florida Division of Elections.
Multi-county special district level offices include the following in Lee County:
Boca Grande Fire Control District - (Charlotte and Lee Counties)
The Boca Grande Fire Control District is a multi-county special district encompassing portions of Charlotte and Lee Counties. A candidate for the office of board commissioner must qualify for office with the Florida Division of Elections and must be a registered elector of the district, a portion thereof, which is included within the boundaries of Charlotte or Lee County.
Gasparilla Island Bridge Authority - (Charlotte and Lee Counties)
The Gasparilla Island Bridge Authority is a multi-county special district encompassing portions of Charlotte and Lee Counties. A candidate for the office of board supervisor must qualify for office with the Florida Division of Elections and must be a registered elector of the district, a portion thereof, which is included within the boundaries of Charlotte or Lee County.
Lehigh Acres Municipal Services Improvement District - (Hendry and Lee Counties)
The Lehigh Acres Municipal Services Improvement is a multi-county special district encompassing portions of Hendry and Lee Counties. A candidate for the office of board commissioner must qualify for office with the Florida Division of Elections and must be a registered elector of the district, a portion thereof, which is included within the boundaries of Hendry or Lee County.
Mediterra Community Development District - (Collier and Lee Counties)
The Mediterra Community Development District is a multi-county special district encompassing portions of Collier and Lee Counties. A candidate for the office of board commissioner must qualify for office with the Florida Division of Elections and must be a registered elector of the district, a portion thereof, which is included within the boundaries of Collier or Lee County.
