Unveiling of Portrait Honoring Mrs. Melvin Morgan Ceremony and Reception
Lee County, FL (January 9, 2018) You are cordially invited to attend the unveiling of the portrait honoring Mrs. Melvin Morgan on Friday, January 12, 2018, 12:00 p.m. at the Melvin Morgan Constitutional Complex, 2480 Thompson Street, 3rd Floor Auditorium.
In 2013 Lee County Commissioner, Mr. Frank Mann, made the nomination to the Board of County Commissioners to change the name of the Lee County Constitutional Complex to the Melvin Morgan Constitutional Complex to honor Mrs. Melvin Morgan, the only black person to serve as a Lee County Commissioner.
The Board of County Commissioners voted unanimously to make the change in honor of Mrs. Melvin Morgan, who has served our community in many areas: Civic Engagement, Educational, and Religious.
The Portrait Unveiling Ceremony and Reception will be the kick-off to the 2018 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Celebration.
Mrs. Melvin Morgan will be present for the ceremony. Her portrait will be on display in the main lobby of the Melvin Morgan Constitutional Complex.
